Welcome aboard the USS Missouri!

Vis Ad Libertatem (Strength for Freedom)

"Every time someone tries to win a war before it starts, innocent people die." -Steve Rogers, Avengers: Age of Ultron

Ship's patch with motto - the text on the top reads United Starship Missouri, the text on the bottom reads Bellerophon Class, and the text in the banner on the patch reads Vis Ad Libertatem, which is Latin for Strength for Freedom"Missouri:" A name which has always been associated with the legendary Iowa class battleship of the United States Navy. Originally named after the US State of Missouri, the 20th Century battleship gained fame for being the site of the surrender of the Empire of Japan on September 2, 1945, ending Earth’s Second World War as well as being the last battleship in commission on Earth.

In the 25th Century, however, the name Missouri has a very different meaning: Newly-launched with the latest and most advanced technology, the Federation Starship Missouri may not look like much, but there’s more to her than meets the eye: Among the host of improvements incorporated into the design of the Bellerophon class included the installation of a permanent Marine garrison and a Quantum Slipstream Drive, as well as a Federation first: A Klingon-based integrated cloaking device, implemented to test the waters of a recent amendment to the Treaty of Algeron maintained with the Romulan Star Empire. The Missouri is one of the Federation’s most advanced Bellerophon Class Light Explorers.

The ship is commanded by Captain Patricia Cooke; a young officer with strong lineage ties to the Missouri name. Patricia is the granddaughter of Major Francine Cooke, a Starfleet Marine and veteran of the Dominion War who served aboard the Excelsior class USS Missouri during that conflict, as well as the distant descendant of Fireman 1st Class Harry Francis Cooke, who served aboard the legendary Iowa class battleship during World War II, and was one of the 50 some odd Chicagoans who witnessed the Japanese surrender. Now, over 450 years later, Patricia is the third Cooke to serve aboard a Missouri, and the first Cooke to command one.

The Missouri is assigned wherever Starfleet needs it to go. One day it could be making first contact with a newly-discovered alien species, the next it could be on the other side of the quadrant investigating a years old cold case.

Welcome to the adventures of the Federation Starship Missouri: May you find us an interesting crew, where fun and exciting things lie in wait around every corner. While we cannot guarantee things to be “normal,” we can guarantee you a fun and interesting Star Trek experience whilst serving on the ship that carries the legendary name Missouri.

Hey, all you Missourians!

Just another quick update regarding the domain switch for our sim:

As mentioned back in march, we will be switching domains to missouri.harperhold.com. I now have an end date for when the sim-station.net domain will be retired:

If you have not done so already, please make sure you are using the harperhold.com link by November 19 to avoid service disruptions.

Thank you for your time!

Hey, all you Missourians!

This is your captain, Patricia Cooke, speaking: Here to inform you that we will be changing URLs, leaving behind the last URL carried by our predecessor sim.

Some research by fleet personnel has suggested that for some firewalls, a .net site is harder to reach than a .com site. As such, we will be migrating to a .com domain.

The USS Missouri can now be found at https://missouri.harperhold.com so please make sure you update your bookmarks. https://missouri.sim-station.net will still be available for now, but the migration will be formalized later this year, as the sim-station.net domain…

Previously, on Star Trek: Missouri:

"Most Galaxy ships were sent on a 7-year very very deep space exploration with families, it wasn't unheard of for Captains to create holidays to keep morale up... Even after the Battle of Wolf 359, when they removed families, all those ships in very very deep space kept their family crews... No nearby Starbase with commercial transports." Andrew stated. Though the meaning of 'Index' made him what holiday they were celebrating.

And now, the continuation:

"Think we should send it back to the Missouri for further analysis?" Akira suggested.

"Judging by the manner in which…

Continued from part 1

The first few questions were simple enough. Founding charter ratification. Launch of the NX-01. The Articles of Federation. They quizzed each other, with Cian first, who did okay, but after a few wanted to switch for Darik to answer. Darik answered without too much effort, the dates arriving where they always did when he knew material properly, connected to structures and sequences rather than sitting alone.

Cian held the PADD, glancing down at the module and back up at Darik in a rhythm that ought to have become ordinary and somehow did not. “The Tomed Incident,”…

2382, Tycho City, Luna

The brightness had started to hurt his eyes.

The School Study Hall was too bright and didn’t contain any physical books, so you couldn’t call it a library by any stretch of the imagination, which was a shame, because Darik Moreau did enjoy books. Physical ones you could pick up and page through, place a bookmark in and know that it would still be there when you came back to it. Books had a fragility he appreciated. A reminder that nothing lasted forever, no matter how official people tried to make things look. No, this place…

2380, Valencia, Earth

On the line, Darik drew. The first shot landed cleanly, not centre but close enough for Darik to know he was on the right track. The gravity was different, there was natural breeze here. He would need to take that into consideration, somehow. He took the second more slowly, feeling the heat at his back, the pressure of the grip, the clean familiar path from draw to release. By the third, the range had ceased to be a place full of people and become what it always became when he shot well. Sequence, still body, target, breath.…

2380, Valencia, Earth

The heat rose gently from the pale stone of the range.

Not oppressive, not the sort that pressed people down into shade, but warm in a steady, unapologetic way that soaked into skin and cloth alike, carrying the faint salt of the nearby sea and the dry scent of sun-warmed ground. Above the complex the sky was a clear Mediterranean blue that seemed almost too large after the neat curve of Luna’s dome, stretching open and uninterrupted until it met the line of distant roofs and palms beyond the training grounds.

Around the range, delegation jackets in…

Chief Counsellors Log Number One, Lieutenant JG Eradaar Ezazzan speaking.

It has been a week since I departed the USS Poseidon and left my mate, Lieutenant Lazarus Kord, behind. Whilst we have kept close contact with one another, I would be greatly remiss in stating anything other than a great sadness at our parting. Lazarus has been my rock and foundation since the very inceptions of our feelings for one another. I understand now a few things about us, about our situation and uniqueness.

Lazarus was an outcast in his own home. His situation I cannot state here openly, but…
